Introduction
Carbonara is a classic Italian pasta dish that's creamy and delicious. It's made with spaghetti, bacon, eggs, and cheese. The creamy sauce is made from a combination of eggs, Parmesan cheese, and heavy cream. This recipe is easy to make and perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.Ingredients
For this recipe, you will need:- 1 pound spaghetti
- 8 slices bacon, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
1. Cook the spaghetti in a large pot of boiling salted water until al dente, according to package instructions. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining the spaghetti. 2. In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the bacon from the skillet using a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate. 3. Add the minced garlic to the bacon fat in the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant. Remove from heat. 4. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, and grated Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste. 5. Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet with the garlic and bacon fat. Toss to coat the spaghetti evenly in the bacon fat. 6. Pour the egg mixture over the spaghetti and toss until the spaghetti is coated in the sauce. 7. If the sauce seems too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water to thin it out. 8. Add the crispy bacon to the skillet and toss to combine. 9. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.Nutrition
