Recipe For Shami Kebab

The following are the ingredients required to make shami kebab:- 500 grams of minced meat (beef or mutton)
- 100 grams of chana dal (split Bengal gram)
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
- 2 green chilies (finely chopped)
- 1 tablespoon of ginger paste
- 1 tablespoon of garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon of red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon of cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon of garam masala powder
- 1 egg (beaten)
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- Salt (to taste)
- Oil (for frying)
Instructions
The following are the instructions to make shami kebab:- Wash the chana dal and soak it in water for at least 2 hours.
- Boil the chana dal in a pressure cooker with some water and salt until it becomes soft.
- Drain the excess water from the chana dal and let it cool down.
- In a mixing bowl, add the minced meat, boiled chana dal, chopped onion, green chilies, ginger paste, garlic paste, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, lemon juice, beaten egg, and salt.
- Mix all the ingredients well and knead the mixture for at least 10 minutes.
- Cover the mixing bowl with a lid and let it rest for at least 1 hour.
- After 1 hour, take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into a round patty.
- Repeat the process with the remaining mixture.
- Heat some oil in a pan for frying.
- Once the oil is hot, add the shami kebabs to the pan.
- Fry the kebabs on medium heat until they become golden brown on both sides.
- Remove the kebabs from the pan and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
- Serve the shami kebabs hot with mint chutney or ketchup.
