- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds (rai)
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (til)
- 1 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves
Instructions
Follow these steps to make dhokla:- In a mixing bowl, add gram flour, semolina, yogurt, water, ginger paste, green chilli paste, sugar, lemon juice, salt, and turmeric powder. Mix everything together until smooth.
- Set the mixture aside to rest for 30 minutes. This will allow the batter to ferment.
- After 30 minutes, add Eno fruit salt to the mixture and mix well. The mixture will become frothy and fluffy.
- Pour the mixture into a greased plate or a steaming vessel. Make sure to fill the vessel only halfway to allow room for the dhokla to rise.
- Steam the dhokla for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once the dhokla is cooked, let it cool down for a few minutes before cutting it into pieces.
- For the tempering, heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and sesame seeds. Let them crackle.
- Pour the tempering over the dhokla and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
- Cut the dhokla into squares or diamonds and serve with green chutney or tamarind chutney.
